IT WAS two years ago that I wrote a piece for this page asking, “Will Same-Sex Binational Couples Get Justice?” With the 5-to-4 decision in Windsor v. United States on June 26, the Supreme Court answered my question with a re- sounding “yes.” Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act was ruled a violation of the principle of equal protection.
