The Blue Ridge Lambda Press was one of several LGBTQ+ newsletters produced in the area between the 1970s and early 2010s. The press grew out of the Blue Ridge Lambda Alliance, which formed around 1980 in Lynchburg—the home base of televangelist Jerry Falwell Sr. Rosenthal.

Since forming, the Southwest Virginia LGBTQ+ History Project has launched a regional archive of LGBT historical materials. The most recent digital exhibit, BLT: Bisexual, Lesbian, and Transgender Inclusion and Exclusion in Southwest Virginia, 1990-1995, debuted at the end of 2020.

I’m only 25, but I’ve been a high school theater and chorus teacher, a general assignment reporter, a college English instructor, and an editor of a small weekly newspaper. Luckily I have done quite well in both arenas. Perhaps that’s because I have a good work ethic and am resourceful.
